Limitations

Limitations

Sometimes I feel caged
Within my own skin
Trapped under this weight
Of skin and bone.

The limitations of this vessel prison
create the image of me that stands before you.
But I am not who I appear to be
This person you call me,
Is not me.
The "me" that I know lies deep
Within these folds of skin

These hands do not define me.
They don't tell you who I am,
Merely, where this vessel has traveled.

These eyes are not what define my soul.
They are only reflections of what you want me to be.

I am so much more.
I could be so much more.
Without these limitations.

If I could only break out of this institution
That has straight-jacketed
My truth
My being
My ability
My "me"

Only then would I be free.
